Cargo Packaging Requirements

Proper packaging is a mandatory condition for cargo insurance. If goods are not packed adequately, insurers may refuse to pay a claim — even if the damage occurs during transport.

Packaging protects your shipment and ensures that your insurance coverage remains valid. Investing in proper packaging saves you money and prevents disputes — even a low-value shipment can be rejected if the packaging is proven insufficient.

What is considered proper packaging?

Solid & Secure

Goods must withstand the normal risks of handling, stacking and transport.

Fit for the Goods

Packaging must match the product — fragile, liquid, perishable, heavy machinery, etc.

Professional Quality

Done by the shipper or a qualified packing company using industry-standard materials.

Clearly Labeled

Contents, orientation (e.g. 'This Side Up') and handling instructions visible.
